FELIX GLASS SUBSEA DOME FAQ

Optical Dome Diameter Tolerance & Surface Specifications

Precision dimensional and optical surface specifications directly affect assembly fit, sealing performance and imaging quality for subsea dome ports.

Diameter Tolerance

Standard diameter tolerance range for our domes (20mm–60mm): ±0.02mm. Tighter tolerance down to ±0.005mm can be customized upon request for high-precision sensor applications.

Optical Surface Quality

  • Standard scratch & dig: 60/40
  • High precision option: 40/20 for high-end camera and LiDAR systems

Surface Figure

Default surface figure: λ/2 @632.8nm. λ/4 or λ/8 is available as upgrade for high-performance optical systems.

Key Notes

Flanged domes require extra flatness control on flange sealing face to guarantee uniform O-ring compression and prevent water leakage.

FAQ

Q: What is your default diameter tolerance?
A: ±0.02mm for 20–60mm dome diameter. Tighter tolerance can be customized.

Q: What scratch-dig grade do you offer?
A: Standard 60/40, upgraded 40/20 for premium optical systems.

Q: Does flange face have flatness requirement?
A: Yes, flange flatness is critical for sealing. We can control flatness per your drawing requirement.
