FELIX GLASS SUBSEA DOME FAQ
Subsea LiDAR Optical Dome Port Requirements
Subsea LiDAR systems have stricter optical requirements compared to regular underwater cameras. Dome ports for LiDAR need controlled transmission at laser wavelength, low wavefront distortion and high pressure resistance.
Core Requirements for LiDAR Dome
- Match substrate material to LiDAR operating wavelength
- Custom single-band or broadband AR coating for laser wavelength
- Tight surface figure and low wavefront error to avoid beam distortion
- High compressive strength for deep water pressure
- Low bubble and inclusion inside optical blank
Material Selection
- JGS1 Fused Silica: great for visible and near-infrared LiDAR at 3000m
- C-axis Sapphire: preferred for 7000m LiDAR with high mechanical reliability
Design Tips
LiDAR domes often require tighter optical tolerances. FEA simulation is strongly recommended even for 3000m rated LiDAR domes.
FAQ
Q: Can your dome work for underwater LiDAR?
A: Yes, we customize optical domes specially for subsea LiDAR sensors.
Q: What AR coating is needed for LiDAR dome?
A: AR coating must be optimized for your LiDAR laser wavelength, not general visible broadband coating.
Q: Is flanged dome suitable for subsea LiDAR?
A: Yes, integrated flanged dome is widely adopted for high-reliability subsea LiDAR housings.
