Source custom optical glass with a clear approval path. Share your drawing, operating wavelength and inspection requirements so we can define the material, geometry, finish and coating for your project. Start with a paid prototype before committing to repeat production.
Your Approval Baseline
Common Pain Points When Sourcing Custom Optical Components
Real-world challenges faced by optical engineers, procurement managers, and project teams.
A quotation without comparable evidence
A broad product catalogue does not establish whether a supplier can reproduce your geometry, surface finish and coating requirements.
Specifications open to interpretation
A wavelength without angle of incidence, or a dimension without a tolerance, can lead to a part that does not fit your optical system.
First-order uncertainty
Unclear tooling costs, inspection scope or delivery milestones make a first order harder to approve internally.
Targeted Engineering Solutions
Each pain point is matched with a specific Felix Glass capability and measurable buyer benefit.
Match the evidence to your part
Ask for a relevant product example and the available supporting records. Review comparable geometry, material and processing requirements before selecting the production route.
Close the specification gaps
Use drawing review to identify critical dimensions, clear aperture, finish, coating band and test conditions. Record agreed exceptions before production.
Agree the first-order terms
Confirm sample and tooling charges, inspection deliverables, shipment timing and the process for reporting nonconformities in the written quotation and order.
Five Types of Evidence to Review
Build a supplier review around evidence relevant to your drawing. Confirm which records are available before placing the order.
Comparable work
Review similar components. Reference images illustrate a product or process; they are not acceptance records for your order.
Process relevance
Ask which machining, polishing and coating steps apply to your drawing and where those steps will be performed.
Measured results
Define required dimensional, surface-quality and spectral reports. Distinguish reference data from measurements on your batch.
Inspection methods
Agree the inspection method and sampling scope. Request instrument and calibration information where your project requires it.
Traceability
Specify drawing revision, material identification, batch reference and report linkage in the order requirements.
Geometry & Inspection Priorities
Use the component geometry to decide which manufacturing and inspection evidence you need.

Domes & curved surfaces
Specify inner and outer radii, wall thickness, rim geometry and mounting clearance. Include the imaging band and any agreed optical tests.
Discuss Your Requirements
Lenses & circular optics
Define diameter, thickness, optical surfaces and clear aperture. State the required coating band and incidence conditions.
Discuss Your Requirements
Quartz components
Provide the required material grade, outline, wall or section thickness and end finish. Identify the surfaces that need optical inspection.
Discuss Your RequirementsYour First-Order Confirmation Checklist
Agree the following items in writing. These are order-review requirements, not blanket capability claims.
| Parameter | What to confirm before production |
|---|---|
| Drawing control | Part number, revision, units and governing drawing; agree how CAD and drawing discrepancies are resolved. |
| Material & geometry | Material grade, crystal orientation where relevant, dimensions, tolerances and edge details. |
| Optical & coating requirements | Clear aperture, surface quality, optical figure where needed, wavelength band, incidence angle and test method. |
| Inspection scope | Sampling or full inspection by characteristic; required reports and acceptance criteria. |
| Sample & tooling charges | Paid samples. Confirm tooling, special testing, freight and any applicable repeat-order arrangements in the quotation. |
| MOQ & production quantity | Project-specific quantities reviewed against material, tooling and process requirements. |
| Delivery milestones | Confirm drawing approval, payment and material prerequisites; distinguish dispatch date from transit time. |
| Nonconformity handling | Agree how to submit evidence and the applicable remedy for confirmed manufacturing nonconformities in the order terms. |
Define Evidence Around Your Application
These application examples identify review requirements; they are not customer case studies or certification claims.
Machine vision & sensing
Camera and sensor protection: define the optical dome or window interface and the required image-quality checks.
Laser & analytical instruments
Beam-path optics: specify wavelength, coating conditions and any transmission or absorption measurements needed.
Underwater imaging
Camera ports: assess the dome or window together with its mounting and seals. Pressure evidence must state the tested assembly, pressure and cycle conditions.
Manufacturing Capabilities
Review the manufacturing route and evidence relevant to your part. Images below are existing website references, not batch-specific acceptance records.

- CompanyDongguan Felix Glass Co., Ltd. Contact James Fu for project-specific manufacturing information.
- Equipment & processRequest equipment information relevant to your part. Photographs alone do not establish achievable tolerances.
- Capacity & scheduleConfirm material availability, process routing and production scheduling for your order quantity.
- Manufacturing evidenceAsk for comparable work, available inspection records and product-specific process information.
- Quality documentationSpecify the material records, measurements and certificates needed; availability and scope must be confirmed.

Inspection & records
Compare results against the agreed acceptance criteria.
Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions from engineers and procurement teams sourcing Custom Optical Components.
What should I send for an engineering review?
Send the current drawing, CAD file if available, material, quantity, operating wavelength, coating requirements and application conditions. Identify critical dimensions and acceptance tests.
Can you manufacture to our own drawing?
Submit the drawing for review. Feasibility, exceptions, manufacturing route and inspection scope need written confirmation before production.
Are custom samples free?
Custom samples are paid. The quotation should identify sample, tooling and special-test charges separately, together with freight where applicable.
What is the minimum order quantity?
MOQ depends on the part, material and manufacturing route. Tell us your prototype and expected production quantities so they can be evaluated together.
How is the delivery date confirmed?
The quotation defines the schedule and prerequisites, including drawing approval, payment and material availability. Shipment timing and carrier transit time are separate.
What quality records can I request?
Request dimensional results, surface-quality inspection, material records and spectral data as relevant. The available documents, test methods and costs must be confirmed for your order.
How will my components be packaged?
Agree packaging suited to the component geometry, optical surfaces and transport conditions. Request packaging photos and handling instructions where required.
Do you support OEM projects and design changes?
Drawing-based OEM requests are welcome. Engineering support and any design changes are subject to review; approve revised specifications before the affected production step.
Does a reference photograph prove my part will meet specification?
No. A reference photograph illustrates a product or process. Acceptance depends on the agreed specification and the inspection results for your order.
What happens if delivered parts do not meet the agreed requirements?
Report the order and batch references, affected quantities, photos and measurement evidence. The review procedure and applicable remedy for confirmed manufacturing nonconformities should be agreed in the order terms.
